Marvel Rivals is Bringing Back its Season 0 Battle Pass, Starting Galacta’s Gift Event on May 15

NetEase Games is celebrating the first anniversary of Marvel Rivals since it kicked off its closed beta around the same time last year.

NetEase Games has announced that it will be bringing back the Season 0 battle pass to Marvel Rivals for a limited amount of time. In a post on the game’s official blog, the studio also announced that it will be kicking off the Galacta’s Gift event with the May 15 update for Marvel Rivals has been released. As part of the events, players will be able to earn free rewards, including Chrono Shield Cards, a Costume Coin, Sprays, and Nameplates. The Costume Coin can be traded in by players to unlock a costumer for any of the 33 heroes that are part of the game’s roster.

The decision to bring back the Season 0 battle pass was made, according to the studio, as it was the only one that players never had the chance to continue working on after Marvel Rivals enterred its first season. For context, players that buy a battle pass can continue working towards unlocking all of its rewards even if the season for that battle pass is over. Season 0’s battle pass is being brought back for the massive amount of new players that Marvel Rivals has attracted since its official launch.

The Season 0 battle pass will be available from May 15 to May 29, and can be bought for 590 Lattice. It is worth noting that the battle pass will not feature any free rewards, and players will have to buy it in order to start unlocking the various cosmetics it offers. NetEase Games has also stated that, depending on the success of the Season 0 battle pass returning, it might bring back older battle passes in the future as well. However, these returning battle passes will be priced at least 20 percent higher than the original price.

“One year ago this May, Marvel Rivals launched with our Closed Alpha Test, marking the first time we welcomed players into our universe, and the response was nothing short of electrifying,” posted the company. “Since then, we’ve watched with equal parts excitement and anxiety as Marvel Rivals evolved step by step into a game that now captivates millions. Throughout this incredible journey, every single fan in our community has been both our inspiration and our rock-solid support.”

Back in April, NetEase Games had released the Costume Customisation feature, which allows players to change the combinations of colours on various characters through the Costumes tab. The company also later confirmed that the feature would not be a free one; players have to pay 600 Unstable Molecules for character costumes compatible with the feature.

Marvel Rivals has been incredibly successful for NetEase. Back in February, the company had revealed that more than it had attracted more than 40 million players since its release. To add additional context, the company had previously also confirmed that Marvel Rivals had gotten more than 10 million players in its first 72 hours, before quickly shooting up to 20 million players.

Marvel Rivals is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Check out our review for more details.
