SONS OF THE FOREST HITS 350,105 PEAK CONCURRENT PLAYERS FOR EARLY ACCESS LAUNCH

The survival horror title will be in early access for 6-8 months, though Endnight is committed to releasing “the best version” possible.

Endnight Games’ Sons of the Forest is now available on PC via Steam Early Access. It’s already a major success, with SteamDB noting a 24-hour peak concurrent player total of 350,105. By comparison, The Forest hit an all-time peak of 76,226 players in October 2022.

Sons of the Forest takes place on a mysterious island teeming with cannibals and mutants. On a mission to find a missing billionaire, players must scavenge, build and craft to defend against hostile locales and wildlife. The sequel offers several changes and new features, from revamped building and dynamic seasons to new items and AI Companions. Multiplayer is also supported, allowing up to eight players to team up.

Endnight Games opted for an early access release following positive feedback for the first game, which helped “shape and improve” it drastically. It plans to spend six to eight months in early access, but the team is committed to leaving when it’s “certain this is the best version of the game possible.” In the meantime, fans can look forward to new buildings, game mechanics, lore, items, and more.
