Double Fine has wasted no time in bringing its curious adventure game Keeper to PlayStation 5, just weeks after the studio was ditched by Xbox.

Keeper is a colorful and dreamy adventure starring a crumbling lighthouse and a mysterious bird. Despite being critically praised, the project failed to find a wide audience on Xbox Series X/S and PC where it debuted last year, and was Double Fine’s penultimate project before Microsoft decided to cut ties with the company.

Its arrival on PlayStation isn’t a huge surprise โ€” Double Fine has brought other titles to PS5 as well during its now-concluded era of Xbox ownership โ€” though its swift arrival is still notable. Likewise, the fact that this news was confirmed today in Sony’s big State of Play broadcast โ€” it’s harder to imagine the news appearing in this way had the studio remained under Xbox’s thumb.

AWAKEN THE UNEXPECTED… IN NEW WAYS

From Lee Petty and Double Fine Productions, creators of Stacking, Headlander, RAD, and Psychonauts, Keeper is a beautiful and surreal third-person, atmospheric, puzzle adventure, and a story told without words.

On an island in a long-lost sea, a forgotten lighthouse stands dormant in the shadow of a distant mountain peak. As withering tendrils spread and coalesce, it awakens. Taken with a mysterious sense of purpose and joined by a spirited seabird, it embarks upon a heartening tale of unlikely companionship, an odyssey of mystifying metamorphosis, and an unexpected journey towards the center of the island, into realms beyond understanding.
