Only one Space Marine per class is confirmed usable in Operations. Eternal War allows two players per class on each team.
Along with detailing graphics modes on consoles, Saber Interactive has provided more details on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s cross-platform play. Confirmed by CEO Tim Willits at Gamescom, crossplay is fully supported between PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) players at launch.
Of course, there are some conditions. While Campaign and Operations have no restrictions, Eternal War matchmaking pools are split between PC and consoles “for fairness and balancing purposes.” If you want to play with those on the same platform, crossplay can be turned off. And no, there’s no support for LAN play.
On another note, the developer confirmed class restrictions for Operations and Eternal War. The former only offers one Space Marine from each class, while the latter allows two players per class and team. Furthermore, there’s no friendly fire in any of the modes, though there may be other ways to troll teammates (like kiting a Tyranid swarm to them).
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 launches on September 9th. Pre-loads are available now on Xbox Series X/S. PS5 owners can start on September 7th, though it’s live on September 3rd for Gold and Ultra Edition players.
