Ubisoft Quebec talks about some of the effects used in the latest cinematic trailer and how differently each character plays.
If the new cinematic trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows didn’t provide enough about the open-world action RPG, a new breakdown is available that goes into more detail. Creative director Jonathan Dumont and assistant director of cinematic design Akim Milne talk about the presentation, including the use of split screens in the trailer and the game’s setting.
The split-screen is noteworthy because of the first encounter between Naoe and Yasuke, the game’s protagonists. It’s slanted, implying a difference in perspective and almost a hostile feeling. When they meet again later, it’s like they see more eye-to-eye.
The developers also provide a timeline for the first and second attacks on the Iga Province and tease the Black Ships, one of the main factors leading to the Bakumatsu in Japan. The whole video is worth checking out to learn more about how each character plays and even how they’re viewed when wandering around.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is out November 15th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.
