Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Won’t Have as Many Endings as the Base Game

However, players will still have to make some hard decisions over the course of the expansion, according to director Hidetaka Miyazaki.

FromSoftware has touted Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree as its largest ever expansion, and though that obviously means it’s going to be packed full of plenty of new content – like over 10 new bosses and a new map larger than the base game’s Limgrave area – what should we expect where its endings are concerned? According to director Hidetaka Miyazaki, though there will be multiple endings, you shouldn’t expect quite as many as the base game had.

Spotted by MP1st, in a recent interview with Chinese publication zhuanlan-zhihu, when asked about the same, Miyazaki confirmed that Shadow of the Erdtree isn’t going to have as many endings as the base game itself did, though players will still have to “face some choices” in the expansion. Elden Ring, of course, had a total of six possible endings. Meanwhile, Miyazaki also reiterated that the expansion and the base game’s stories won’t affect each other.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree launches on June 21 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and will be priced at $39.99. It’s going to be Elden Ring’s first and only expansion, though FromSoftware hasn’t ruled out a potential sequel.
