Shortly after reviews for the game went live, Ubisoft added the controversial Denuvo DRM to its PC version.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage has launched today for PC and consoles, and though it offers a solid, focused, stealth-driven experience for those pining after the series’ earlier instalments, Ubisoft has also attracted some criticism for its PC version.

That hasn’t been helped by the fact that the game has added support for the controversial Denuvo DRM, which has a reputation for hamstringing games’ performance quite frequently. The fact that this patch was pushed out shortly after reviews for the title had already gone line has raised some eyebrows.

As spotted on Twitter by @TDeckverse (via VGC), a day one patch was released for the open world action-adventure title that has added Denuvo DRM to its PC version. The game has already received some criticism for its PC optimization, so this is bound to prove unpopular.

In our review of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “Assassin’s Creed Mirage looks to the franchise’s past, and delivers a strong, focused entry that is exactly what it says on the tin, nothing more and nothing less.”

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
