The first games showcase of Microsoft kicked off earlier today with looks at upcoming titles for Xbox platforms. Outside of the confirmed titles, like Forza Horizon 6 and Fable, the Developer_Direct also had a surprise appearance from Xbox first-party developer Double Fine to unveil their next game: Kiln.
Self-described as an “Online Multiplayer Pottery-Party Brawler”, Kiln is landing as a 4-versus-4 action game that has players building their own character with clay before going into battle to take out the opponent’s giant kiln using water.
Players take the role of a spirit that has to build their own ceramic armor, and that involves an actual “best-in-class simulated pottery wheel” with a large amount of customization. Outside of making the shapes, there’s an entire decoration segment to make every ceramic creation a uniquely patterned one with toppers, handles, spouts, glazes, charms, and stickers.
“Will you be big, or small? Wide, or tall? Will you make a plate, a jug, a cup or a bowl? Do you prefer to throw pies in your enemy’s face, or transform into a stick of dynamite to be tossed into the fray? There are a multitude of different sizes and combinations to discover, each with unique abilities and attacks, along with new and surprising ways to play,” explains Double Fine.
The available maps will also offer special advantages to the shapes of the fighters, including shortcuts that only some types of pottery can take to surprise or slip past the other team.
There will also be a social hub for players to practice their pottery skills, show off their creations, and engage in mini-games with friends’ spirits.

Kiln has a spring 2026 release window, and it’s coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Xbox Game Pass subscription holders are gaining the title on day one. Double Fine will also be holding beta sessions for the game ahead of launch, and sign-up details can be found here.
