Based on Bandai Namco’s cancelled MMORPG, the revival will support cross-play and cross-progression when it launches this year.
Remember Blue Protocol, Bandai Namco’s anime-esque MMORPG that ended service in Japan earlier this year while its Western release was cancelled after numerous delays? It’s making a comeback with Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, published by A PLUS JAPAN and developed by BOKURA for PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), iOS, and Android.
A new trailer has since confirmed that the MMO will launch worldwide later this year with cross-play between all platforms alongside cross-progression. Based on the original (with BOKURA licensing the property from Bandai Namco), Star Resonance offers several new features and improvements, including a larger world with seamless traversal, as outlined on Resetera.
The story is completely different as well, and though seven classes will be available at launch, a second Healer is in the works. You can also expect features like housing post-launch. Stay tuned for more details, including a concrete release date and gameplay in the coming months.
