Marvel Rivals “Crossover Events and Promotions With Other Media” Confirmed by NetEase

While NetEase has been consistent in dishing out new heroes and villains for Marvel Rivals, it seems players can also expect crossover with other properties down the line as well.

Expect Marvel Rivals Crossovers With Other Media to Happen in the Future

NetEase confirmed this in its latest financial earnings report, which states, “Marvel Rivals has gained wide acclaim, especially after Season 1. NetEase plans to continue investing in development and marketing, with a long-term operational strategy. [talking about esports]. There will also be crossover events and promotions with other media to expand the user base.”

While crossovers are the norm in live service games, I’m curious to see whether Disney will allow the game to collaborate with other media companies. Chances are slim, but who wouldn’t want to see Marvel Rivals characters feature a character from another gaming property, right? Even if the House of Mouse doesn’t allow that, seeing Godzilla, the Alien franchise or other Disney-owned properties appear in the game would be a sight to see. Unless this primarily means Marvel Rivals crossing over with Marvel films and TV shows, which is something the game already does with new skins and cosmetics.

While NetEase has already earned a ton of money from Marvel Rivals, the company’s CEO, William Ding, isn’t exactly willing to open his wallet to spend more money on licenses. I mean, a report recently surfaced that Ding almost cancelled Marvel Rivals since he didn’t want to pay Disney for the Marvel license.

What crossover or collaboration would you want to see in Marvel Rivals that would make sense? While comic book fans might want to see one where we DC heroes enter the game, that’s highly unlikely, though one that would send shockwaves throughout the gaming community if that ever came to pass.
