STARFIELD RATED R18+ IN AUSTRALIA DUE TO “HIGH IMPACT” DRUG USE

The Australian Classification Board categorized the Violence as “Strong Impact” while the Themes and Language had a “Moderate Impact.”

Bethesda Game Studios is still preparing to showcase more gameplay of Starfield in June with a standalone Direct. However, the first rating for the sci-fi RPG is already in, courtesy of the Australian Classification Board. It received an R18+ Restricted rating due to “High Impact” Drug Use.

Other categories, like Themes and Language, received a “Moderate Impact” rating, while Nudity was “Very Mild.” Next to Drug Use, Violence was the second strongest part of the classification, earning a “Strong Impact” score. Given how violent Fallout 3 and 4, and The Elder Scrolls series can be, it’s understandable. How that plays out in Starfield remains to be seen.

Starfield launches on September 6th for Xbox Series X/S and PC. It’s also playable on day one on Game Pass. The upcoming Starfield Direct is set for June 11th and offers a deep dive into the title, with director Todd Howard saying, “There’s so much that we still have to show you.

“The game has many of the hallmarks you’d expect from us, but it’s also a very unique experience.”
