Microsoft’s lineup of first party studios is an impressive one, to say the very least, not only because of how large it is, but also given the pedigree of so many developers that fall under the first party Xbox Game Studios wing. At the same time, however, Microsoft is also working on upcoming exclusives with external, third party partners that will be published under the Xbox Game Studios banner.
In fact, currently, the company has over a dozen games in the works with external partners. That’s according to Microsoft’s Director of Live Game Operations at Xbox Game Studios, Crystin Cox, who confirmed the same in a recent video uploaded by the company (via Wccftech).
“There are quite a lot of projects that we’re working on right now and we have over a dozen games that we are currently working on,” Cox said. “Every single one of those projects is totally unique and we approach them in a very bespoke way.”
A number of these games have already been officially announced or confirmed to be in development, including the likes of Avalanche Studios’ Contraband, Asobo Studio’s Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Oxide Games’ Ara: History Untold, and Stoic Studio’s Towerborne.
Gears of War: Judgment and Outriders developer People Can Fly is also working on Project Maverick, while Hideo Kojima and his team at Kojima Productions are also working on a cloud-native Xbox-exclusive title, rumoured to be a horror game called Overdose.
Meanwhile, leaks have claimed that IO Interactive’s multiplayer action RPG Project Fantasy is also an Xbox Game Studios game.
