A UI/UX Engineer listing for PC titles at Nixxes mentions Coherent middleware, used in Insomniac’s Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.
Sony’s first-party line-up has steadily made its way to PC over the years, with Housemarque’s Returnal launching last month and The Last of Us Part 1 out on March 28th. While the next port is unknown, Reddit user Veloxz believes it could be Insomniac Games’ Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.
This is due to a job listing for UX/UI Engineer at Nixxes to “help implement and improve the UI experience for upcoming AAA PC titles.” The studio previously handled the PC ports for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. While the responsibilities (like “Prototype, design and implement features to improve the gameplay experience on PC”) could apply to any game, it also says “Experience in using Coherent middleware” is a plus.
A quick look at Coherent’s website reveals the various projects its tech has been used for. Sure enough, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is listed. Considering the PS5 title is one of the few remaining exclusives not to be ported, it’s looking highly likely.
It may be a while until a proper announcement, so stay tuned for further details. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart sold over 1.1 million units in its first month and has received extensive acclaim.
