New Player Icons and Name Cards will be available for all players, while Watchpoint: Gibraltar is getting a lore update.
Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed that its Pride event for Overwatch 2 Season 4 will begin on June 1st. Midtown will be changed for an entire month, showcasing the aftermath of a Pride parade. Watchpoint: Gibraltar also sees a photo of Tracer with Emily, with the duo getting a new spray.
All players who log in will also receive new Player Icons and Name Cards, the former offering LGBTQIA+ flags for players to identify with. The latter offers the same, with Pride cards for Tracer, Soldier 76, Lifeweaver, Baptiste and Pharah. The heroes also get dedicated cards representing their orientation.
The development team also addressed why the event is happening now. “We love our characters and their lore, and in expanding the Overwatch 2 experience to include the upcoming PvE lore, we realized how much more we can do in exploring our character identities and relationships. With our first Overwatch 2 Pride event, we knew that we wanted to celebrate the diversity that makes the world worth fighting for.
“This is just the beginning of Pride in Overwatch 2. Over the coming Seasons and years, we’ll have more to share as the deeper lore of the Overwatch universe unfolds.”
As for PvE, Blizzard recently cancelled the previously announced Hero Mode, instead opting for seasonal story missions. The first batch will roll out in Season 6 with a new Support hero, player progression system and more.
