Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition Running on Switch 2 Shown Off in New 37-Minute Video

The video is a compilation of gameplay B-roll footage released by CD Projekt RED, giving us an idea of its performance and visuals.

A new, long video has made its way to the Internet showcasing 37 minutes worth of gameplay footage for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition. The video is a sort of compilation of smaller gameplay footage b-roll that has been distributed by developer CD Projekt RED in order to promote the game. Due to this, the video has several cuts between different scenes throughout, rather than giving us an uninterrupted look at how it might run on the Switch 2 over a longer period of time.

However, this also has the benefit of giving us a look at how the Switch 2 is able to handle different kinds of gameplay that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition features, from regular first-person exploration to third-person driving sections with various vehicles, and even conversation scenes offering close-ups of various characters like Panam. Check out the video below.

Generally speaking, the performance of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition seems quite fine, with the visuals largely holding up on Nintendo’s upcoming consoles. There are, however, a few scenes where the visuals do take a noticeable hit; the holographic fish near Arasaka Tower, for example, has a noticeable dip in quality when it comes to reflections on the road. Aside from that, however, the game has managed to strike a fine balance between looking good while still maintaining a stable frame rate.

A trailer released by CD Projekt RED for Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition back in April included game director Adam Badowski and VP of technology Charles Tremblay talking about the upcoming Switch 2 release. In the video, Tremblay spoke about a number of new features that will be available when the game comes out on June 5, and went as far as calling it the best way to experience Cyberpunk 2077 on a handheld system.

“It’s still the same amazing experience, and I think the returning players will feel right at home,” Tremblay said. “That being said, we do have a lot of ways to experience the game using the controllers. We have the new amazing LCD screens with the VRR support, and I do think it’s the best way to experience the game on the go.”

The studio had also previously confirmed that, in order to achieve the quality of visuals that we see in the video while still maintaining a decent frame rate, Nvidia’s DLSS technology is being used in all of the different modes that the game will be playable in.

“We’re using a version of DLSS available for Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, powered by Nvidia’s Tensor cores,” said the studio in a statement back in April. “The game utilises DLSS in all four modes: in handheld and docked, and the performance and quality variations of each.”

CD Projekt RED had also described its work in bringing Cyberpunk 2077 to the Switch 2 as taking priority for now when asked about whether we’d also see The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt making a similar jump to the new console. In its statement, the studio said that it was “all in” on Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition for now.

In the meantime, Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
