Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released this past week, and it opened up to high praise from fans and critics alike. In fact, it’s currently one of the highest-rated games this year, tied with the puzzle adventure game Blue Prince!
To the surprise of no one, the game is also selling extremely well, having now sold over one million copies since its release last Thursday.
As announced on X, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has already sold through a million copies worldwide! These numbers do include copies sold to retailers (meaning not purchased yet from consumers), with the studio also confirming that this does not include any Game Pass numbers.
Massive congratulations to Sandfall Interactive! An impressive feat, especially considering the game was created by around 30 people while also still being a budget-priced ($49.99) title. As a debut title for a relatively new studio, this is pretty insane, though well-deserved.
Unsurprisingly, the Steam Charts are also reflective of this success, with the game reaching a peak of 35,000 on launch day, only to see that number grow each day, and finally peaking at a whopping 120,000 during Sunday morning, April 27, 2025. That’s just Steam alone, expect this number to be far bigger, especially since it’s also available on Xbox Game Pass, and on the PS5.
Here’s to wishing the studio even more success, and I cannot wait to see what this all ends up meaning for not only the franchise but also the future of the studio.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is now available worldwide on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Expect our review to hit the site soon.
