Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen has changed details about his social media profile that has driven fans into a frenzy looking for clues.

While developer Team Cherry has been quiet about its upcoming title Hollow Knight: Silksong, the studio now seems to be planning some kind of reveal with a complicated scavenger hunt. As caught by The Gamer, co-creator of the original Hollow Knight William Pellen changed his profile on social media platform X. These changes might provide a hint as to the studio’s plans going forward.

Pellen has changed his X profile name to ‘little bomey’, while also changing his handle to @everydruidwaswr, as well as changing his profile picture to that of a chocolate cake. With these changes, Pellen also posted that “something big is coming,” and that fans should “keep your eyes closed tomorrow.”

Hollow Knight fans looking for hints about the much-awaited sequel Silksong took these details and ran wild, running the chocolate cake profile picture through a reverse image search. This resulted in the discovery of a chocolate cake recipe, posted on April 2, 2024. While this all may be a coincidence, the recipe’s date is exactly a year before the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 event, as pointed out by X user Penkaru.

Reddit users on the subreddit for Silksong have also discovered that Pellen’s new X name of ‘little bomey’ might be a reference to a wine named Little Boomey Cabernet Sauvignon. The seemingly major clue here is the fact that the wine is made in Adelaide Hills in southern Australia – the same city where studio Team Cherry is based.

It is worth noting that, while these hints appear cryptic, this has an even change of either being an ARG (alternate-reality game) encouraging players to discover more clues about Hollow Knight: Silksong by making use of real-world clues, or just being a wild goose chase that a fanbase waiting for a highly-anticipated title is falling for.

Details about Hollow Knight: Silksong has been shrouded in quite a bit of secrecy. This is despite the fact that ratings for the games have already been spotted on the websites for a host of different ratings boards throughout 2024. The game has also gotten store pages on Xbox as well as the Switch eShop.

The last time Team Cherry gave concrete details about the development of Hollow Knight: Silksong was all the way back in 2021, where the studio revealed that it was content complete and was in the testing stage. Despite silence about the game since then, the game’s lead playtester has stated that the title was not stuck in development hell. The playtester has also described the game as “glorious”, telling players that the title will be “worth the wait”.
