Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Gameplay Showcases Gorgeous Environments, Boss Fight, and More

Developer Sandfall Interactive has unveiled new gameplay footage for its upcoming turn-based RPG, which is in development for PC and consoles.

Upon its announcement earlier in the year, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 captured its fair share of hearts and minds with is promise of a gorgeous, AAA turn-based RPG experience inspired by the classics, and developer Sandfall Interactive has now shared another meaty look at the game.

Over six minutes of new gameplay footage have been released, showcasing our heroes – the eponymous Expedition 33 – exploring a gorgeous underwater environment on their quest to defeat the Paintress. In addition to striking vistas, the gameplay shows off more of the game’s promising turn-based combat, which is taking more than a few cues from the likes of Persona (with its stylized UI and menus) and Paper Mario (with its QTE-style real-time prompts to go along with its turn-based combat). The showing ends up with a boss fight to offer another look at the unique abilities and attacks of different characters. Check out the footage below.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It’s due out sometime in 2025, with a specific release date currently unknown.
