The recently-announced free-to-play multiplayer first-person shooter launches next year for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
1047 Games has officially unveiled Splitgate 2, and though a cinematic reveal trailer is all we have seen of the game so far, that will be changing soon, with the studio having confirmed its plans for the upcoming Gamescom, which is scheduled to take place in Cologne, Germany from August 21 to 25.
Over on Xbox Wire, 1047 Games’ head of marketing Hilary Goldstein has confirmed that Splitgate 2 will be playable at Gamescom. Whether we will also get to see a gameplay trailer of the title around the same time (or perhaps before then) remains to be seen, but it probably seems like a safe bet that we will.
“You’ll get to judge for yourself soon enough as Splitgate 2 will be playable at Gamescom 2024,” Goldstein wrote on Xbox Wire. “For now, I can’t reveal too much. But I can tell you what the team was focused on improving with Splitgate 2. We wanted an experience that was challenging, but also approachable, where you could make meaningful choices before ever stepping in the arena. And, of course, we wanted it to look amazing.”
Interestingly Goldstein also added that though Splitgate 2’s reveal trailer doesn’t show actual gameplay, it does accurately represent a lot of what players will find in the game itself, from the maps to the weapons and more.
“Yes, those are real maps. Yes, those are real Splitgate 2 weapons. Yes, that is a trail following you out of a portal,” Goldstein wrote.
Splitgate 2 launches on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2025. It’s being billed by 1047 Games as a fully AAA production
