Slower updates for Helldivers 2 will benefit players and developers, according to the game’s community manager.
Developer Arrowhead Game Studios will be slowing down updates for Helldivers 2 moving forward. As caught by PC Gamer, Thomas Petersonâcommunity manager for the gameârevealed on the official Helldivers 2 Discord server that both the studio as well as the players will âbenefitâ from a slower cadence of updates.
While Helldivers 2 has seen updates at quite a speedy pace since its release, the studio has now opted to take its time with the gameâs next update. When a player on the Discord server asked when the next update will be coming out, Peterson, who goes by Twinbeard on Discord, said that it will come out âwhen itâs doneâ.
âWe want to take some more time for this one and potentially between future patches since we feel cadence has probably been a bit too high to be able to maintain the quality standard we want and you deserve,â said Peterson on Discord. âPatching a lot risks can easily disrupt work flow and takes more resources than you might think; it needs planning, implementing, monitoring, possible tweaking in hotfixes etc. For this one we prefer to stretch it out a little, hopefully with a good result.â
Peterson went on to state that the studio hasnât quite come to a solid decision about the new slower cadence of updates. âWe feel a slightly lower cadence overall will benefit both us, you, and the game,â he said.
Helldivers 2âs next update will roll back some of the gameâs enemy spawns and patrols, since previous updates have raised spawns and patrols to a level that can be too difficult, even veering into âunfunâ territory, for more casual players of the game who prefer to play at lower difficulties.
The game has been a remarkable success since its release, having sold 12 million copies so far.
