Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition Announced, Out on July 18

The upcoming release hopes to emulate the massive 1990 Nintendo World Championships event in the comfort of players’ homes.

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition has been announced for the Nintendo Switch. Slated for a July 18 release, the game is a collection classic NES titles—you can find the complete list below—that were part of the original Nintendo World Championships event. Check out the announcement trailer below the list of titles.

The title is available in two distinct forms: a digital version available through the Nintendo eShop for $29.99, and a physical “Deluxe Set” release, priced at $59.99. Along with the game itself, the physical release comes with a host of other goodies, including a set of five collectible pins, 13 art cards, and a replica of the gold-coloured NES Game Park from the original Nintendo World Championships back in 1990.

It is worth noting that the games included in the release aren’t full titles. Instead, they are bite-sized challenges that players had to take on in the Nintendo World Championships event. The release comes with more than 150 speedrun challenges across the 13 NES titles. There is also a Party mode, where up to 8 players can compete locally.
