The platforming series’ rumoured reboot has undergone something of a reset behind-the-scenes, it’s been claimed.
Banjo-Kazooie has to be one of the most highly requested revivals in all of gaming, but sadly, up till now, there’s been little official indication that the beloved platforming series is anywhere close to making a comeback. That said, leaks have claimed in recent months that a new Banjo-Kazooie game is indeed in development, though it seems the project has undergone a bit of a reset behind-the-scenes.
Prominent insider NateTheHate, who previously claimed that a new Banjo game had been greenlit in 2022, recently said on ResetEra that the title was currently being “reworked from its original vision and scope”, adding in another message that it seems like changes are being made “for the better.” Nonetheless, given the shift in development, it’s likely going to be even longer before we hear anything concrete about the game.
Something that still remains unknown is which studio is developing the Banjo game (assuming that it’s real, of course). The series has always been under Rare’s control in the past, but it’s unclear if the next game will also be Rare-developed.
Interestingly, though Microsoft or Rare haven’t given much indication that a new Banjo game is coming, Xbox boss Phil Spencer acknowledged the widespread demand for the series’ revival.
