Based on IDW’s graphical novel series, the single-player title is similar to newer God of War titles and intended for mature audiences.
Paramount Global has announced that IDW’s graphic novel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is getting a third-person action RPG. Doug Rosen, senior VP for games and emerging media, told Polygon it would be a single-player game akin to the newer God of War titles.
The Last Ronin is about the sole surviving Ninja Turtle who wields all four of the group’s signature weapons. The rest died due to the Foot Clan, and the survivor seeking revenge. While it’s possible that the other members could be playable in flashbacks, the one Turtle is the main character.
Unlike the older animated series, which shows the Turtles as happy-go-lucky, this is a darker story intended for an older audience. The developer and the platforms weren’t revealed, but Rosen said the company found the “right partner” to adapt the series. It’s still a few years away (which means it could be exclusive to current-gen platforms), so we’ll have to wait for more details.
