STEAM DECK CELEBRATES FIRST ANNIVERSARY WITH NEW CUSTOMISATION OPTION, 10 PERCENT DISCOUNT

The newest Steam Deck update now allows users to change the system’s booting animation through its system settings.

Valve has released a new update for the Steam Deck celebrating the system’s first complete year since release. Rather than bringing major new features, the update instead brings a small new customisation option that allows players to change the Steam Deck’s booting animation.

Steam Deck users have been able to change the animation for a while owing to the system’s use of Linux as its operating system, which is typically an open system that allows for as much customisation as the user might want. The update, however, makes the whole process much simpler by providing the option directly in the Steam Deck’s settings.

Alongside the update, the company is also celebrating the first full year of the Steam Deck’s release by discounting the system for the first time since its launch. The Steam Deck is currently available at a 10% discount for all of its SKUs. This brings the price of the 64GB model down from $399 to $359.10. The 256GB model is priced down from $529 to $476.10, and the 512GB model is discounted down from $649 to $584.10.

The Steam Deck’s price will be discounted for the duration of the currently ongoing Steam Spring Sale, which is set to end on March 23.
