Follow the Space Marines as they battle hordes of Tyranids in chaotic skirmishes before venturing to the swamps to slay some more.
While Gamescom Opening Night Live attracted the most eyes, plenty of big titles have been showcased on the show floor. One of these is Saber Interactive’s eagerly awaited Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, with IGN providing about 14 minutes of new gameplay. Check it out below.
It starts on the battlefield with the Space Marines battling against Tyranids while awaiting an aerial bombardment. This offers a look at the melee combat, with options to parry and even dodge an enemy’s attack to transition into a sidearm shot. Though it’s work-in-progress footage, the graphical fidelity is several steps above its predecessor.
The action transitions to the Kadaku Swamp two hours later, with the classic chain sword in action (which you can swap to at the start). Even with multiple enemies, your AI companions provide formidable backup, though co-op is also supported.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 launches in Winter 2023 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC
