The kart racer’s latest DLC update added five blank slots to the character selection screen, suggestion more additions are on the way.
Wave 4 of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass has gone live, adding eight more tracks to a game that’s already brimming with content. The new DLC drop has, interestingly enough, also added a new character in Birdo, which is a first for the Switch title- though it seems more on those might be on the way in the near future.
Following the release of Wave 4, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s character selection screen now also features five blank spots, each marked with a tantalizing question mark, suggesting more characters will be added to the game in the future.
Nintendo has previously said that it will add returning characters to the kart racer with its Booster Course Pass DLC drops, though it hasn’t been officially confirmed just what those plans will entail. Whether any of these five additional characters will be brand-new introductions to the series or non-Mario Nintendo characters, and how they will be divvied up between the two remaining waves for the Booster Course Pass, remains to be seen.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available on the Nintendo Switch.
