Massive Entertainment’s open world Star Wars game will see players traveling to several hubs of scum and villainy.
With Star Wars Outlaws, Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft are promising to deliver the ultimate Star Wars scoundrel fantasy by putting players in the protagonist of the thief Kay Vess, who will be traversing the galaxy and crossing paths with a number of criminal groups and syndicates (including Jabba the Hutt and his followers).
In a recently released behind-the-scenes video, members of the open world title’s development team have shined the spotlight on some of the locations that will serve as hubs of scum and villainy, as they put, that players will be traveling to.
There is, of course, Tatooine, a staple of the Star Wars franchise that fans will be very familiar with, which is being recontextualized from the lens of a spaghetti western while still keeping true to the planet’s history. Meanwhile, Toshara – which we saw plenty of in the title’s gameplay debut last month – is a location built from scratch for the game, and will also sport plenty of environmental diversity, from windswept plains to desert-like locations to a vibrant city called Mirogana, which is built into a massive rock.
Different biomes will also have unique characters, including not only unique flora and fauna, but also different cultures of people living there, which have been defined by the location they call their home. Plenty of emphasis is seemingly being placed on bringing locations to life with authenticity and attention to detail. Check out the video below for more details.
Star Wars Outlaws launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC sometime in 2024.
