Levels have extensive details, as players can knock over fruit bowls, cause printers to spew out paper and more in chaotic fights.
Starbreeze continues to outline some new features coming to Payday 3, with a recent Dev Diary discussing art and animation. While the team talks about key-framing reload animations and motion-capturing deaths, the micro destructions are perhaps the most interesting addition.
Micro destructions include pots shattering, fruit bowls getting knocked over, papers exploding from printers, and whatnot. Combined with the dynamic environments, it creates an atmosphere of chaos. The team wants to focus on hyper-realism, as seen in the environments and the sheer amount of detail present.
However, it also wants to add a bit of Hollywood, which explains how over-the-top death animations can be. Starbreeze also seeks to create a good base with its animation systems so that it’s easier to add new weapons and characters.
Payday 3 is out on September 21st for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. It’s always online, which has earned ire from players.
