Assassin’s Creed Mirage Gets New Video Exploring Protagonist Basim

The new Assassin’s Creed Mirage video offers us a deep dive into the visual design, backstory, and combat prowess of new protagonist Basim.

Ubisoft has released a new video for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage, focusing on the story and gameplay of protagonist Basim. The trailer focuses on three aspects: Basim being a new playable hero, how he became an Assassin, and how he can be deadly and resourceful. Check out the trailer below.

Basim, first introduced in the opening hours of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Acting as a mentor figure for Eivor during the events of that game, Basim had his own hidden motives, as well as a mysterious past.

Set 12 years before the vents of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in 861 AD, Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes place during Basim’s youth in Anbar, near Baghdad. Basim’s character design also calls back to the designs of some of the previous protagonists of the franchise, especially being reminiscent of original protagonist Altair.

Progression in Assassin’s Creed Mirage doesn’t revolve around grinding for XP. Rather, it is linear and based on the game’s story progression. Basim will unlock new abilities as he ranks up through the Brotherhood by completing story missions and side quests. Basim can upgrade his toolset, allowing him for more options in taking on his missions.

The game also features a new combat system, complete with new moves specific to Basim. Basim’s main weapons of choice are his sword and dagger. Basim can also slow down time and perform a killstreak, taking out many potential enemies in one go.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is slated to release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on October 12.
