Diablo 4 Hotfix Nerfs Elite Monster Density in Dungeons

The developer is “standardizing” Elite monster density so that no Dungeon is “clearly more efficient to run through than others.”

The hotfixes for Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo 4 continue to roll out, implementing bug fixes and balance changes to the action RPG looter. However, its latest hotfix also “adjusts” Elite monster density in Dungeons to standardize them across the board to ensure that no one dungeon’s “more efficient to run through than others.”

It isn’t the first time Blizzard has nerfed Elite spawns, especially since players would exploit them for quick XP. As for other fixes, the Legendary Affix “Edgemaster’s Aspect” will no longer reapply its damage bonus to Whirlwind when using a Shout. The Aspect of Berserk Ripping and the Two-Handed Expertise for the Barbarian was unintentionally dealing crazy amounts of damage, so that’s also been fixed.

Whirlwind Barbarian is still one of the strongest end-game builds, so there’s that consolation. Check out the full hotfix notes below. Diablo 4 is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. It’s earned over $666 million in revenue in its first five days.

HOTFIX 9 – JUNE 12, 2023 – 1.0.2

Dungeons

  • Further adjustments to elite monster density in dungeons.

Developer Note: We are standardizing the density of elite monsters that spawn in dungeons to ensure that no particular dungeon is clearly more efficient to run through than others.
