As one of the major regions of Kairos, the Wastelands are home to several ruins and even returning characters like Moxxi and Zane.
As part of its ongoing coverage of Gearbox Entertainment’s Borderlands 4, Game Informer uploaded an interview with the development team, discussing the creation of new loot. It’s an interesting watch, particularly when they discuss the feel of each weapon and how the game’s procedural generation system, but it also showcases a brand-new region.
Known as the Wastelands, it’s a sandy region with destroyed structures and more of an industrial motif than the Faded Fields. There’s also extensive amounts of climbing, especially in what seem to be enemy outposts. Overall, it’s definitely more in line with Pandora’s Bandit-filled locations.
Moxxi’s new location is also revealed alongside Zane from Borderlands 3, who returns in a non-playable role. The Tip Jar is briefly spotted and should function similarly to Borderlands 2, where players could pay money for a chance at new guns.
Kairos has two other major regions which Gearbox has yet to reveal, so stay tuned for more details. Borderlands 4 launches on September 12th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC for $69.99. It’s also coming to Nintendo Switch 2 at a later date.
