While this special event won’t have any major new reveals for Monster Hunter Wilds, it will be our first look at its special arena.
PlayStation Japan is teaming up with Capcom for a special event for the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds. The event will feature producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, director Yuuya Tokuda, and will be hosted by Hatsuna Matsushima. The event, dubbed âPLAY! PLAY! PLAY! Monster Hunter Wilds Special Eventâ, is slated to go live on February 22 at 17:00 JST.
While we donât expect any major reveals to take place during the livestream, Capcom has stated that it will be the first time we get to see the arena field â the location where arena hunts will take place for monsters that have been captured or for other special quests.
It is also worth noting that, since it will be a live special event featuring a Japanese host and fans, it might not feature English translations.
Monster Hunter Wilds is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on February 27. Capcom recently give us a full chart that explains exactly what time the game will go live in various regions and across various platforms. Pre-loads for PC and Xbox Series X/S will be available on February 25, while PS5 players will have to wait until 48 hours before the game launches on the system to start pre-loading.
While Capcom has been proactive in talking about Monster Hunter Wilds and revealing some of the monsters that players will get to fight, it hasnât yet confirmed what kind of endgame content the title will feature. Tsujimoto has, however, confirmed that we wonât get to see Siege hunts in the upcoming game at launch.
Rather than including 16-player raids like we saw in Monster Hunter World and Iceborne with Kulve Taroth and Safiâjiiva, Monster Hunter Wilds will instead focus more on higher-end versions of its standard 4-player hunts. Tsujimoto didnât discount the idea of bringing Siege hunts in future updates, however. He just stated that there are no current plans for it.
We do know, thanks to the recently-released launch trailer, that the first major post-launch update for Monster Hunter Wilds will be adding Mizutsune to its roster. The monster, having originally made its debut back in Monster Hunter Generations, had skipped World and Iceborne before coming back with Rise.
Some of the most recently-confirmed monsters include quite a few returning ones, including Gore Magala and Nerscylla, both of which first appeared in Monster Hunter 4. We also have confirmations for a host of returning monsters, including Blangonga, Congalala, and Gravios.
While players are getting ready for Monster Hunter Wilds, several of them have seemingly been revisiting Monster Hunter World, Iceborne, Rise and Sunbreak. Capcom announced earlier this month that Monster Hunter World had sold 28.10 million copies as of the end of December 2024. Monster Hunter Rise, on the other hand, has sold 16.70 million copies.
