Windows 11 users who updated to 24H2 might want to avoid the open-world action RPG (and some other Ubisoft titles) for now.

Assassin’s Creed Origins has become the subject of a wave of negative reviews on Steam. The PC release has faced criticisms over the fact that the latest major update for Windows 11, 24H2, makes the game unplayable for some.

Players in the game’s Steam reviews have posted negative reviews due to severe technical issues like freezing and crashing. Then there are those who can’t even load it to begin with.

Ubisoft titles have been uniquely affected by Windows 11 24H2, with even Microsoft acknowledging the issue and stopping the update from being released for Windows 11 users that might have Ubisoft titles like Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora installed on their system.

The 24H2 update for Windows 11 was originally rolled out back in November, with many other titles getting significant performance upgrades thanks to the update working particularly well with some of AMD’s processors. Ubisoft titles, however, seem to be facing compatibility issues with the update.

At the time of writing, the overall review aggregate for Assassin’s Creed Origins on Steam sits at “Very Positive”, with the recent reviews aggregate having fallen down to “Mixed”.
