The latest addition to Firaxis’s 4X strategy series looks very familiar, with plenty of building, exploration, and conquering.
Firaxis Games took the stage at Gamescom Opening Night Live to reveal the first gameplay for Sid Meier’s Civilization 7. As rumored before the show, it launches on February 11th, 2025, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Check it out below.
As with previous titles, you’ll be founding cities, building and expanding them into massive empires. Other civilizations will pursue the same course, so you can work with them or battle it out. Technologies start with spears and shields before quickly advancing to tanks, firearms, and warships.
Of course, you can also engage in more academic and artistic endeavors, including constructing rockets to send into space. How much the gameplay will differ from its predecessors remains to be seen, but thus far, the attention to detail and visual fidelity is something to behold.
Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 also has a gameplay showcase at 1 PM PDT, offering more than 20 minutes of gameplay.
