Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake Features New Episodes Focused on Ortega

Follow the protagonist’s father, the Hero of Aliahan, as he also sets out to find and defeat the villainous Archfiend Baramos.

Square Enix has released some new information (via Gematsu) for Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, the upcoming remake based on Dragon Quest 3: The Seeds of Salvation. While the publisher has touted new features like different genders for the protagonist Erdrick, there are also brand new episodes focused on Ortega.

Ortega is Erdrick’s father, touted as the Hero of Aliahan. The episodes detail his journey to defeat Baramos, Archfiend and the biggest threat to the world. Along with battling Simão, Ortega also encounters various new enemies. The volcano where he seemingly meets his end is also showcased, with a Garboyle teasing that it’s been a while since humans “dared” venture there.

The exact extent and length of the new content are unknown, so stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake launches on November 14th for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Remakes of Dragon Quest 1 and 2 are also in development, planned to launch in 2025 for Switch.
