The improved textures, atmospheric effects and lighting in the upcoming remaster really shine in the latest batch of images.
Alongside its first episode of Deep Dive, Nightdive Studios released several new in-game screenshots of The Thing: Remastered. They highlight some impressive enhancements to the environments, textures, effects, character models and, of course, the gruesome monsters running around. Check them out below.
Developed on Nightdive’s KEX Engine, The Thing: Remastered will look even sharper at higher resolutions thanks to supporting up to 4K resolution. There’s also 120 FPS support, improved animations and better effects thanks to contemporary rendering techniques. Though gameplay has yet to be revealed, original director Mark Atkinson was impressed with the visual upgrade.
The Thing: Remastered launches later this year for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch. It’s unknown whether a Classic Mode toggle is available, but players can expect quality-of-life fixes (fewer instances of getting stuck without ammo, for example). There will also be “scalable difficulties,” though nothing similar to a “Story Mode.”
