The Ghillie Mantle is confirmed to return, and sneak attacks are “button prompted” while seemingly dealing much more damage.
While Monster Hunter Wilds, the next mainline title in the franchise, is doing several new things, there are some returning features for long-time fans. After their absence in Monster Hunter Rise, both Mantles and mounting will return.
Following a 30-minute hands-off gameplay demo, GamesRadar confirmed that the Ghillie Mantle is coming back (though the total number of Mantles is unknown). It also seems that sneak attacks have received a buff. Though it’s seemingly Low Rank content, it revealed that a charged Greatsword attack to a Doshaguma dealt 234 damage while the sneak attack delivered 522 damage.
Sneak attacks are also “button-prompted,” better indicating when the window becomes available. As for mounting, the publications reported three mounts in a 15-minute hunt. The exact mechanics weren’t noted (don’t expect something like Monster Hunter 4), but it’s seemingly “very powerful.”
Out in 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It will have maps that are a “little more than” twice the size of previous entries.
