Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake is Coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch

“The legend of Erdrick draws near”, teases Square Enix, perhaps teasing more new details – like the release date – shortly.

As reported by leaker Midori, Square Enix’s Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake has finally received an update. A new tweet revealed that the role-playing game is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch. Though there’s no release date or further details, the text, “The legend of Erdrick draws near”, probably hints at more to come.

The title, announced in 2021, is a remake of the 1988 RPG of the same name, except it utilizes the same engine as Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy. Developed by Team Asano (with Bravely Default producer Masahi Takahashi onboard) and AMATA K.K., it was noted to be “progressing steadily” as of September 2023.

However, following the departure of Yu Miyake as the franchise’s lead producer and the delay of Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate, there was some concern about the project’s status. It appears to be on track and could even see a reveal at the Summer Game Fest showcase on June 7th, though Square Enix isn’t yet confirmed as a partner. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
