XDefiant is Now Live, Developer Investigating Matchmaking Issues

Ubisoft San Francisco says it’s “seeing improvements” with players being unable to find matches and is “continuing to work on it.”

Ubisoft’s free-to-play first-person shooter XDefiant is now available, but you probably wouldn’t have believed it based on the launch experience. Players report being unable to join matches as the lobby screen endlessly searches for others before giving up. Some have reported getting into one game or so, but issues remain.

The development team is aware of these issues and asked players to “Please bear with us while we look into servers and matchmaking!” In a follow-up tweet, it added, “We are seeing improvements with the issues that people are experiencing with matchmaking and are continuing to work on it. We will provide updates as soon as possible!”

Having played three matches in three hours and seeing few improvements, it could take longer for matchmaking issues to be fully fixed. Of course, as noted by many, at least the store works.

XDefiant is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. It’s a crossover shooter between various Ubisoft franchises, featuring playable characters from factions like DedSec (Watch Dogs), Cleaners (The Division), Libertad (Far Cry 6) and more. There are 14 maps to play on across five modes and multiple weapons with attachments to unlock.
