Based on the Dead by Daylight franchise, Supermassive’s narrative horror title is out this year for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.
Supermassive Games’ The Casting of Frank Stone, a narrative horror game based on the Dead by Daylight universe, has received its first gameplay trailer. It sees four friends in the 1980s traveling to Cedar Hills’ steel mill to shoot a horror film. Unfortunately, the scares turn out to be more than just fiction.
Players delve into the mill (against the wishes of law enforcement, of course) and eventually learn more about Frank Stone, a seemingly legendary serial killer. Like The Dark Pictures Anthology and The Quarry, The Casting of Frank Stone is a title where your choices cause the narrative to branch. Some can also lead to the characters dying gruesomely, and the usual Quick Time Events and environmental puzzles also pop up.
Of course, there’s also the promise of tying into the larger Dead by Daylight universe. In a press release, Behaviour Interactive senior creative director Dave Richard said, “The world of The Entity is like a book with infinite pages. With a completely different setting, different gameplay, and more, The Casting of Frank Stone is a way for us to fill those pages in and tell a Dead by Daylight story in a way we’ve never been able to before.”
Supermassive executive producer Traci Tufte said, “In true Supermassive Games fashion, we’re creating a heart-pounding, immersive experience for all players. This is a story that aims to deliver the unexpected at every turn, and it all begins in a small town with a group of young filmmakers shooting their independent horror movie Murder Mill.”
