While NetEase hasn’t mentioned anything about Marvel Rivals being released on other platforms outside of PC, we did report on an “other platform” mention in the game’s FAQ that was quickly removed. While nothing has been confirmed still, the evidence that Marvel Rivals is coming to consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) is mounting per the game’s files that mention crossplay.
With the Marvel Rivals closed alpha test kicking off this weekend, gamers have datamined the files, and have spotted mention of crossplay functionality between PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
As part of an update after keys went out to Steam users, NetEase tweaked the game files to support the unannounced Xbox Series X|S version. The devs also have added Microsoft Store item IDs for purchasing in-game currency alongside the PlayStation Store IDs.
While this is from a datamine and not official, don’t take this as a definitive confirmation that Marvel Rivals is coming to consoles. That said, the evidence is slowly building up to that outcome. Reliable leaker Miller even postulates that a console confirmation announcement might be in the works for Summer Game Fest happening next month.
In more official Marvel Rivals news, the latest official character reveal features Hela. Expect more characters to be featured in the coming weeks by the developers. Stay tuned here on MP1st, as we have more Marvel Rivals content hitting the site in the next few days, as the closed alpha test has no NDA (non-disclosure agreement), which means we can post impressions and more about it.
