Details on what exactly the series’ next instalment will be are currently scant, however.
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio said last week that it would be making an âimportantâ announcement related to the Like a Dragon series today, with many expecting that new details would be shared in the seriesâ next instalment- which is sort of whatâs happened. During the recent episode of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio TV, though a new Like a Dragon game wasnât announced, RGG Studio shared the first behind-the-scenes update on it.
Specifically, the studio announced that it will be holding casting auditions for the next Like a Dragon game soon, similar to the live-action hostess casting auditions that were held for Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, with full details set to be revealed âin the near futureâ (via Gematsu).
What exactly this next game will be wasnât revealed, but series director Masayoshi Yokoyama confirmed that it wonât be Like a Dragon Kiwami 3â though interestingly, Yokoyama added that the frequently requested remake is âdefinitelyâ going to get made âat some point.â
Recently, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio technical director Yutaka Ita said in an interview that the developer would continue to use its internal Dragon Engine for Like a Dragon games, despite having used Unreal Engine 4 for Like a Dragon: Ishin!
Like a Dragonâs last major release was, of course, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which released earlier this year to widespread critical acclaim. The game sold over 1 million units in its first week, with Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio deeming its sales âincredibly strongâ.
