System Shock Remake is Coming to PlayStation, Xbox on May 21

System Shock’s remake finally has a release date for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, almost a full year after its PC release.

Developer Nightdive Studios has announced that its remake of classic shooter System Shock will be coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on May 21. The game is also getting a host of extra features, including a new female protagonist, as well as an expanded ending.

The System Shock remake was originally released on PC back in May last year. Since its PC release, the studio had been quiet about the game’s console release date aside from stating that it would happen “in due course”. September 2023, however, saw reports indicating a console release would definitely be happening sooner rather than later, with a rating for the game’s console versions popping up on the ESRB website.

Development on the console release of System Shock also took the studio a while after its PC release, with it stating back in June that development on the PlayStation and Xbox was “running smoothly” and that it needed “a few rounds of QA support”.

In our review of System Shock‘s remake, we praised the game for its faithfulness to the original, giving it a score of 8 out of 10.
