Stardew Valley’s 1.6 Update Will Be Larger in Scope Than Originally Planned

The much-anticipated 1.6 update for Stardew Valley grew larger in scope than the developer originally intended.

Stardew Valley developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has revealed through a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that the much-anticipated 1.6 update for the game will be larger in scope than originally planned. He has also revealed that the update is currently in its bug fixing and polishing phase, which indicates that the update is likely close to release.

The update, announced back in September 2023, is meant to add a host of new end-game content to the game in the form of new quests. The update will allow players to side with Joja, unlocking new end-game quests in the process. Other content in the update includes support for 8-player multiplayer for the PC version of the game, as well as a new major festival and two new mini festivals.

Barone has previously stated that the update will feature over 100 new lines of dialogues for different characters throughout Stardew Valley, and completing billboard quests will get players new types of rewards.

Stardew Valley‘s 1.6 update still doesn’t have a release date, but considering Barone’s statement that the update is currently in the polishing and bug fixing phase, the release date is likely closer than originally anticipated.
