The award-winning composer’s cameo appearance, who plays the banjo in Jackson, is yours to control in the remaster’s new mode.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is coming soon to the PlayStation 5 for just $50 ($10 if you own the PS4 version). While it offers a good spread of new content for fans, perhaps the most underrated mode is Guitar Free Play. It allows for engaging in the guitar-playing mini-game detached from the story.
You can even play with different instruments and characters, including Joel. However, perhaps the best addition is the banjo as an instrument, per a new tweet by Naughty Dog. Oh, and playing as series composer Gustavo Santaolalla is also pretty neat. Jokes aside, his likeness already exists as a cameo character who plays the banjo in Jackson, so this inclusion makes sense.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered launches on January 19th. Along with Guitar Free Play, it also features three Lost Levels, developer commentary with the main cast, director Neil Druckmann and narrative lead Halley Gross, and the new “stressful” roguelike survival mode, No Return.
