XDefiant is a free-to-play competitive shooter that will feature characters from Ubisoft’s other action-oriented franchise.
New rumours are indicating that Ubisoft is looking to launch its free-to-play competitive shooter XDefiant on October 28. The rumour comes thanks to reputable Call of Duty leaker TheMW2Ghost on social media platform X. The rumour is being further corroborated by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, who claims to have gotten similar information.
The rumour comes on the heels of a report from back in September that indicated that XDefiant would be seeing a mid-October release. Originally slated for release earlier this year, the game seemingly hit a snag in the certification process for release on PlayStation and Xbox.
Ubisoft is banking quite a bit on the success of XDefiant, and has previously stated that it will support the game “for a long time”. This is par for the course for Ubisoft’s titles, which usually tend to get supported for quite a while after release with updates, patches, content releases, DLC and expansions.
XDefiant is slated for release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The game, however, is slated to not be available on the PS4 and Xbox One on launch day.
