The remake’s paid expansion, which will cost $9.99, will launch for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on September 21.
Resident Evil 4’s stellar remake is set to receive a glut of new content in the coming weeks and months. Not only is its PlayStation VR2-exclusive VR mode due out this Winter, the game will also be getting a free update to its Mercenaries mode, as well as an expansion in the form of Separate Ways, both of which are coming in a week’s time.
And to go along with the DLC’s announcement, Capcom has also revealed new details on what it will bring in an update published on the PlayStation Blog. As those who played the original Separate Ways will know, the expansion will be focused on Ada Wong, and tell her story as it runs parallel to Leon’s own mission to rescue the President’s daughter.
Alongside Ada, the expansion will also feature a couple more key characters in the form of Luis Serra, who had a major role to play in the base game as well, and will be Ada’s co-conspirator in the expansion; and, of course, series antagonist Albert Wesker, who is the one behind Ada’s mission.
Meanwhile, on the gameplay front, in addition to returning mechanics like the knife parry and weapons that players will remember from the base game, Separate Ways will also arm Ada with a grappling gun, which can not only be used to reach specific locations that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to reach, but also to “take down enemies from a distance and launch a ranged melee attack”.
New screenshots from the expansion have also been revealed. Check them out below.
Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways will retail for $9.99 when it launches on September 21 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PC.
