Other than the incredible Half-Life: Alyx and the not-so-incredible Artifact, Valve has released no new games in over a decade, but it looks like the company is gearing up to launch a third major game soon- and itās allegedly going to be a big one. Counter-Strike has been a mainstay of the industry for nearly as long as Valve has been around, and itās reportedly getting a sequel very, very soon.
Thatās as per journalist Richard Lewis, who has been a reliable leaker of Valve (and especially Counter-Strike) related information in the past, and is now reporting that a follow-up to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is in the works. Allegedly titled Counter-Strike 2, the game is going to be announced very soon, and will launch in beta as soon as sometime later this month (though it could get pushed back to early April).
As per Lewis, Counter-Strike 2 is built on Valveās Source 2 engine, finally bringing an engine upgrade for the series, which is something that fans have been demanding for a while (to say the least). The game will also boast 128 tik official servers, as per the report, in addition to featuring improved matchmaking, though the latter will allegedly not be available at the time of the gameās beta release.
It remains to be seen how soon the announcement will come, but weāll be keeping an eye out for any and all updates, so stay tuned.
