Xbox and Double Fine’s upcoming multi-platform party game, Kiln, is landing next month. There’s an open beta planned ahead of it, too.

Microsoft had some major announcements to make during its first games showcase of 2026 back in January, showing off high-profile first-party games, Forza Horizon 6 and Fable, to the masses. At the same time, it surprise-revealed the next project from Double Fine, which turned out to be a multiplayer party game dubbed Kiln. Today, the studio attached a release date to the experience and also revealed when players can jump in early via the upcoming beta sessions.

Kiln now has an April 23, 2026, release date attached to it, with the game releasing across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 with a $19.99 price tag for the standard edition. A $29.99 Fired Up edition will also be available with cosmetic additions. The game is a part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Cloud at launch as well.

As previously shown off, Kiln has players starting off with a ball of clay that they must form into a vessel on a pottery wheel, building their own character. The shaping is what gives them their fighting stats and special abilities. After decorations, two teams of four pots fight it out in an arena where they try to douse each other’s massive kilns to take the match.

Ahead of the launch, Double Fine is planning to host an open beta weekend that will be running on Steam.

“We’re taking this open beta as an opportunity to not only test out our servers, but to see what resonates with players and what the Kiln team should be prioritizing next,” says Kiln community manager Rocio Salas. “We have a lot of possibilities with a game like Kiln—more customization, more maps, more modes—and, as much as we want to add everything we can to the game, we want to see what you, the players want the most.”

The open beta weekend runs from April 9 through 11. To jump in when open, head to the Kiln Steam store page and click the Request Access button.
