Today, during the New Game+ Showcase, the studio had an announcement or two to make about one of those RPGs, namely Avowed. The fantasy role-playing experience set in its Pillars of Eternity universe is the next Xbox game to get a PlayStation port.
Avowed launched for Windows PCs and Xbox Series X|S platforms back in February 2025. The newly announced PlayStation 5 port will be launching just as the game celebrates its anniversary, with it slated to land on February 17. Pre-orders for this new version will be going live later today.
Right alongside the new platform expansion, Avowed is receiving its Anniversary Update. Originally planned as a fall release as a part of its post-launch roadmap, the update was pushed to 2026 to add more features and bug fixes. It’s unclear if the studio has plans to continue supporting the title with new content through 2026 as well, especially now that another platform is joining the fray.
One of the biggest additions of the update will be the New Game Plus mode, letting players who have finished the game restart the whole experience without losing their abilities and weapons. Enemies in this mode can also gain new abilities and resistances to make each playthrough different.
At the same time, the update will carry new races for players to choose, like Dwarves, Orlans, or Aumauans. Obsidian says this was difficult to implement due to the role-playing aspects of the storyline, as well as the different sizes of the races, which can affect how players do parkour or use weapons. The update will also bring in a brand-new weapon type, the ability to change character appearance during the campaign, and a full-fledged photo mode.
